Laborers, OSHA Team Up For Training

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has agreed to provide the New England Laborers' Training Academy in Hopkinton with training resources and other information to better protect workers on the job.

OSHA will provide workers at the academy with training that will help them identify and prevent work-related hazards. The training will focus on trenching, scaffolding and electrical dangers. OSHA said its goal is to encourage academy students to bring what they learn back to the job site.

The academy and OSHA will also distribute safety and health information and promote participation in OSHA programs.

The academy is part of the Laborers' International Union of North America's education and training structure. It is supported by the New England Laborers' Training Trust Fund and has a location in northeastern Connecticut in addition to the Hopkinton campus.
