Westborough’s Kopin Corporation, a manufacturer of wearable technology, has received a $22.9 million order for thermal weapon sights.
The order from New Jersey defense contractor Leonardo DRS, Inc. covers stand-alone, clip-on thermal weapon sights, which Kopin will provide through 2021, according to a release from Kopin.
“DRS has a long history of supplying the Army with advanced electro-optical infrared technologies, and working with partners like Kopin enables us to equip our soldiers with the best tools to ensure a successful mission,” Jerry Hathaway, senior vice president and general manager of the Leonardo DRS Electro-Optical Infrared Systems business, said in a release.
According to Kopin, the eyepiece can be incorporated with multiple rifle scopes or in a stand-alone configuration.
