Kopin has sold $4M worth of helicopter flight displays

Kopin Corp. has received millions in production orders for a new display system it created for use by helicopter pilots.

The Westborough company, which makes high-resolution microdisplays for augmented and virtual reality, said in a July 21 press release its new ultra-bright, full color Brillian Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display used by helicopter pilots to display real-time flight and targeting information, has received production orders worth $3.8 million.

The orders add to the company’s existing backlog, said Bill Maffucci, vice president of government programs at Kopin.

That backlog includes a $4.8-million order to support the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, a $19.8-million order for the Family of Weapon Sights individual units received in the fourth quarter of 2021, and the company’s funded development programs.
