Westborough electronics manufacturer Kopin Corp. has announced a $2.7-million follow-on order from the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program.
The order is for the company’s high-brightness liquid crystal display for the F-35 program. With the jet scheduled for production through 2030, Kopin expects additional orders over the life of the program, according to the release. Kopin is the sole provider of displays to the program.
The order extends Kopin’s backlog of scheduled deliveries into the second quarter of 2021.It comes at a time when the company has been struggling, with Kopin reporting a $6.6-million quarterly loss last November, two months after it was removed from the S&P SmallCap 600.
