Whitinsville family business Koopman Lumber is in the midst of an expansion.

The company has opened a new home improvement shop in Pembroke and is celebrating the one-year anniversary of the opening of its Uxbridge location, which was the company’s 13th location.

“Pembroke is an important region to both Koopman and Massachusetts as a whole,” Dirk Koopman, CEO of Koopman Lumber, said in an April 17 press release from the company. “With its picturesque landscape and vibrant population, Pembroke is poised to continue its steady growth and we’re thrilled to support and grow alongside them."

The company’s newest location – at 181 Mattakeesett St. in Pembroke – is an acquisition of former Sampson Lumber. The facility offers a range of building materials, including lumber, decking, siding, and cabinetry, and it incorporates products and services already available at Sampson, according to the release. Over the next year, Koopman Lumber looks to grow its showroom to include doors and windows.

The announcement comes a year after the home improvement product provider opened a space in Uxbridge and marks the company’s 13th facility.

The family-owned Koopman Lumber, based in Whitinsville, opened its doors in 1939 and today offers a range of home improvement products and rental equipment for contractors and homeowners.

“The Pembroke location will serve as a key location for KLC as we expand into the South Shore to better support builders, contractors and homeowners on the coast. The location was what first attracted us to Sampson but once we had a few meetings, the culture was so in line with Koopman’s we knew it was a winning move,” said Koopman.
