An historic mansion in Northbridge sold for $1.35 million in a sale closed Nov. 1, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds.
The mansion, known as Lasell Manor, is located at 120 Hill St. The 89-room home was built by Chester Whitin Lasell in 1890, who served as president of Whitin Machine Works from 1887 to 1932, according to the Northbridge Historical Society.
The sale was first reported by the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
The mansion, which has passed hands several times over the years, was sold by the family behind the wire manufacturer Riverdale Mills Corp., also located in Northbridge, including the estate of its founder, James Knott Sr., who died in 2018, and his son, James Knott Jr., who serves as the company’s CEO.
The property was purchased by Clarence Risher, a software engineer at Google, according to his LinkedIn profile. Risher told the T&G he plans to live on the property with his wife, children, other family members, and friends.
The 25-acre property was last assessed by the Town of Northbridge at $985,400 in 2021.
