For more than two decades, the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center in Worcester has been awarded for its ambulatory care. Now, it’s adding behavioral care to the list.
The health center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for ambulatory care for 23 straight years and now has a behavioral health care seal of approval for the first time, it announced Thursday. The accreditations came following an unannounced on-site review in November when The Joint Commission, an Illinois health nonprofit, evaluated compliance with its standards, which prioritize safe and quality patient care.
The Kennedy Community Health Center said it began making preparations 18 months ago after deciding to pursue behavioral health accreditation in addition to ambulatory care.
