Kelly L. Bishop

Age: 32
Title: Regional Membership Director
Company: Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM)
Company location: Marlborough
Residence: Natick

Career highlights:
I am responsible for recruiting new corporate members and providing outstanding service to retain current members of AIM. My main objective is to strengthen the relationship between the association and the member and promote member participation in AIM benefits and services. I majored in political science at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., and spent my postgraduate years working for an international association in Research Triangle Park for five years. My main focus was leadership development training for the volunteer leaders and executive committee members of the association.

Community involvement:
I moved to Massachusetts a little over four years ago and have finally settled into my first house in Natick. I plan on becoming very active in the Natick community with the local sports organizations and other groups. For the time being I support local events in the area and either participate and/or donate financially. I participated in a 5K race with the New England Center for Children in Southborough in May. This was NECC’s first race and it was to raise money for a new therapeutic aquatic center. I also support the following events: Relay For Life, Avon Walk For Breast Cancer, National Kidney Foundation, and National MS Walk for Hope. I sit on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Advancement Center and am a member of ASAE. I am also looking for volunteer opportunities.

Biggest success:
I would say getting the job offer from AIM, moving with my husband to Massachusetts from Raleigh, N.C., and knowing that I have made a difference for many employers in Central Massachusetts is something that not many 32-year-olds can write about.

Dream job:
I hope to be advocating on behalf of employers in Massachusetts to help strengthen the economy and business in the commonwealth.

Businessperson she most admires and why:
The business people I most admire are the men and women who have built businesses here in the commonwealth. Their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, often under challenging conditions, create the opportunity and prosperity that our state’s residents enjoy.
