Guy Glodis, a former Greater Worcester politician and state lawmaker, is selling the Ballot Box bar in the Canal District and the associated building.
The Worcester bar, which he opened three years ago, will close after Thursday, but be reopened under a new concept via a new owner, Glodis said Monday.
The sale is expected to close next week, Glodis said.
Glodis, now a Massachusetts lobbyist and the former Worcester County sheriff and state representative and senator, cited increasing property values and an increasingly busy professional and personal life for his reasons for selling the property.
“The time is right,” he said.
Glodis purchased the property at 9-17 Kelley Square in 2010 for $340,000. He only opened The Ballot Box, a political-themed bar, after a ground-floor tenant vacated the space
“I was planning on only opening it temporarily, but it ended up being three years," he said.
Glodis would not disclose the identity of the new owner, saying only it is a local business owner.
