Keith DuBois

Age: 32
Title: General Manager
Company: Sunshine Sign Co.
Company location: North Grafton
Residence: Oxford

Career highlights:
As general manager at Sunshine Sign Co. my primary responsibility is overseeing the daily business operations. I work directly with the production manager, sales manager, project development and estimation manager, service and install manager, and controller. I started at Sunshine Sign as an estimator/project manager in June 1999. I quickly became a “cultural fit” and learned the corporate structure and systems soon rising into management serving as project development and estimation manger for four years. I credit my success at Sunshine Sign Co. to my schooling and degree that I obtained from Nichols College. At Nichols I majored in small business management and studied all of the areas necessary to be successful in this type of endeavor.

Community involvement:
I currently coach in the Oxford Little League system. I coach for my oldest son’s baseball team. I enjoy the game of baseball tremendously and always thought that it was my best asset. It is very rewarding to teach children how to play the game while showing good sportsmanship. Watching a group of 7- and 8-year-old children progress throughout the season is great. I am looking forward to coaching even more as the kids grow through the league and enter tournament play.

Biggest success:
My biggest success at this level would be winning this award and being recognized as one of the Worcester Business Journal’s 40 under 40. I believe that my achievements at the Sunshine Sign Co. have been valued and respected and is reflected by being chosen as an award recipient.

Dream job:
My ultimate dream job would be in the entertainment industry, either acting or playing music. Since I chose the business world over these types of professions, my ultimate “dream job” would be CEO of a multi-million dollar profitable company such as the one that I am employed by now.

Businessperson he most admires and why:
Lee Iacocca because his success with both Ford Motor Co. and the Chrysler Corp. have always been inspirational. He introduced new product lines that were destined to be failures and ultimately changed the American automobile industry forever. His efforts and innovative ideas and practices turned that company around and brought them back atop as one of the industry’s leaders.
