Joseph Salois has used his power and influence to make an impact on both his industry and his local community. In doing so, he's shown that he's not afraid to pick a fight with the big guys.

Under Salois' leadership, the 80-year-old Atlas Distributing Inc. pursues a mission driven by much more than profit. The company's slogan is “serving you since 1933.” In the case of Salois and his team, “serving” goes well beyond alcoholic beverages. The company also focuses on employees and community — the other two legs of the “triple bottom line” stool of sustainable capitalism.

In another show of leadership, Salois and four other wholesalers last year formed a lobbying group, the Massachusetts Beverage Alliance.

Salois also serves as a director of Fidelity Bank, chairman of the Greater Worcester Community Foundation and as a trustee of both Saint Vincent Hospital and Mechanics Hall.
