Q. How are you settling in at your new office?
A. It has been a very smooth transition so far. This is one of the busiest times of the year and so the pace is extremely busy.

Q. What's the biggest surprise you've had in starting the job?
A. As a result of a very thorough search process with plenty of opportunities to talk in-depth with the staff, there have been no real big surprises.

Q. What challenges do you see in your new position?
A. Bringing in a new class of students is always a challenge because you want to make sure it is a good fit for both the college and the student. Marketing and branding have never been more important for a college than in the current economic climate and we must work hard to demonstrate our value to potential students and their families.

Q. How different is this job from your previous position?
A. For the past 16 years I have been working with colleges and universities to provide financing solutions to their families. In my current role, I will be working only for Dean College to oversee their enrollment and marketing services.

Q. How close is this to what you imagined in high school you'd end up doing?

A. I'm not sure that when I was in high school I had a good sense of what I wanted to do in terms of a career. It was the experience I gained in college that opened my eyes to working in higher education.

Q. Where's the best place to get lunch near your new location?

A. Dean College has a great dining hall on campus, which by the way is open to the public. It is very convenient, so I have not had an opportunity to venture off campus to any of the restaurants in the area.

Q. What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
A. I hope to be contributing to a dynamic organization that makes a positive difference in people's lives.
