Job prospects for grads are good

The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development said this week that, thanks to a growing economy and a need for more skilled workers, employment prospects for recent college graduates in Massachusetts are considerably better than in years past.

Suzanne M. Bump, secretary of labor and workforce development, said she encourages recent grads to visit one of 32 of the state’s One-Stop Career Centers.

“Our economy generated 35,000 jobs in the last year,” Bump said. “Health care, high tech and biotechnology hiring is particularly robust and are among the fastest growing industries in Massachusetts. We want to ensure that college graduates in Massachusetts have the resources they need to succeed in their job search.”

In the first three months of this year, the Massachusetts economy grew by 5 percent , Bump’s office said.
