One of the co-founders of Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers in Framingham was recognized for his advocacy work by a nationwide brewers group.
The Colorado-based Brewers Association, a nonprofit trade association for small and independent craft brewers in the U.S., awarded Sam Hendler, co-founder and president of Jack’s Abby, with its F.X. Matt Defense of the Industry Award, according to a May 4 press release from the association.
Hendler, who has been president of the Massachusetts Brewers Guild since 2020, has been a huge advocate for the craft beer industry, by leveraging and creating key relationships and successfully negotiating the end of a 10-year battle with the Beer Distributors of Massachusetts, the release said.
“During the pandemic, Sam was in constant communication with the governor’s office, the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission, the Brewers Association, and the Massachusetts Restaurant Association, advocating for the brewing industry while helping to translate regulations to guide and reassure the brewing community,” the release said. “Sam is the type of person to always say, ‘Yes’ when it comes to advocating for the industry.”
The award Hendler received is named for the late F.X. Matt of F.X. Matt Brewing Co. in Utica, N.Y.
Hendler co-founded Jack’s Abby in 2011 with his brothers, Jack and Eric Hendler.
