Jabil Circuit, which bought Clinton-based Nypro Inc. this year, will look to acquire healthcare, defense, aerospace and industrial manufacturing in the coming years to help offset challenges in its core market, the company said in its annual report.
The Florida-based electronic designer and manufacturer is in the process of winding down its relationship with BlackBerry, which Moody’s said could cost Jabil $2.1 billion in revenue. Profits fell from $394.7 million to $371.5 million in fiscal year 2013, which ended Aug. 31.
Jabil’s acquisition of Nypro earlier this year for $665 million could be just the first of several acquisitions, the company said. The Fortune 200 Company said its acquisition of smaller competitors is aimed at diversifying its industry sectors and customer base.
Five customers accounted for 53 percent of Jabil’s revenue in 2013, while 58 customers accounted for 90 percent of the company’s revenue, the company said.
