Sunovion Pharmaceuticals has named Mark Iwicki, its chief operating officer, as president and CEO of the Marlborough-based company.
The company formerly operated as Sepracor before being purchased by Dainippon Sumitomo Pharma Co. last year. Iwicki joined the company in 2007 as chief commercial officer in 2007. He previously worked at Novartis and Merck, among other businesses.
Saburo Hamanaka, Sunovion’s former chairman and CEO, will remain with the company as executive vice president of corporate strategy, where he will oversee the company’s new product planning.
Sunovion has 2,500 employees internationally, including 700 at its Marlborough facility.
