Consumers are slapped with fees every day. Even fees for not paying fees. But banking is doing away with them. According to a survey by the American Bankers Association, 65 percent of consumers spend $3 or less in monthly banking fees, including checking account maintenance and ATM access. Consumers reporting no bank fees rose 9 percent over last year to 52 percent. Conversely, 13 percent of those surveyed said they pay more than $10.
