Oxford fiber laser manufacturer IPG Photonics will invest nearly $17 million to open a 50,000-square-foot manufacturing center in Coventry, England.
The news was reported by several industry publications Wednesday, including Bisnow.
The publication reported the new facility will be open by 2020 and provide manufacturing jobs to 30 employees.
The move comes as the company continues a significant global expansion, eyeing an additional 800,000 square feet in 2019 alone.
Locally, IPG is underway with a 170,000-square-foot manufacturing and research expansion at the Oxford headquarters and has spent more than $24 million to acquire additional space in Marlborough since February 2018.
The company maintains a heavy presence in other parts of Europe, including Germany and Russia, the latter of which is the home country of President and CEO Valentin Gapontsev.
