IPG Photonics, a Marlborough-based company that specializes in high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers, has announced a strategic partnership with Miller Electric Manufacturing, a Wisconsin-based company that manufactures equipment for the welding industry.
The goal of the partnership is to improve existing technology used for handheld welding, according to a press release issued by IPG on Tuesday.
“We are excited to embark on this partnership with Miller Electric, as it allows us to pioneer new frontiers in handheld welding technology,” said Trevor Ness, SVP worldwide sales and strategic business development at IPG, in the statement. “Our combined expertise will empower welders with next-generation laser solutions that redefine what’s possible in precision welding.,”
Miller is headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin. Founded in 1929, it now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Illinois Tool Works, according to the company’s website.
This news comes on the heels of IPG’s most recent earnings report, which showed the company’s earnings declined 28% in the third quarter compared to Q3 2022.
