Merrimack Valley Realty Group, LLC of Lawrence, owned by Bernard Goulet, purchased three multi-family properties in Fitchburg totaling 18 units. Two of the properties feature ground-level commercial space.
“Over the last few years, I've seen Fitchburg growing and see the investment that Fitchburg State has put into the city and I'm excited to see continued growth,” said Goulet in a Wednesday email to WBJ.
The largest of the properties, at 773-779 Main St. in downtown Fitchburg, sold for $750,000 on Jan. 10, according to the Worcester North Registry of Deeds. The seller, 773-779 Main Street, LLC of Watertown, purchased the property in 2018 for $400,000.
That building contains 10 apartments and retail space on the ground level. It is assessed by the City of Fitchburg for $434,400.
The property is near a Main Street theater Fitchburg State University is renovating.
“I can't wait to see the theater open and see it bring new life into downtown,” said Goulet.
The two other smaller properties were at 213 Water St. and 85 Day St. in Fitchburg.
The building at 213 Water St. has four one-bedroom apartments and a retail space. It was purchased on Jan. 17 for $445,000. It was last sold as part of a two-property deal in 2016 for $1 million, along with 243 Water St.
In the third property purchase, Goulet bought 85 Day St. for $290,000 on Dec. 7. The four-unit building was last sold in 1986 for $115,000.
