Residents of North Central Massachusetts can weigh in Monday on the proposed slots parlor in Leominster.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission hearing will begin at 4 p.m. at the Lancaster Community Center at 39 Harvard St. Public hearings for slots proposals in Raynham and Plainville will be held later in the week, according to the gaming commission.
Monday’s hearing will be one of three ways residents can voice their opinions on the proposed $200-million Jungle Road development. Written comments are being accepted at mgccomments@state.ma.us. Also, the commission plans to convene hearings in Leominster and the other potential host communities at a later date.
Leominster voters approved the slots plan by 61-39 percent in a Sept. 24 ballot referendum. The 125,000-square-foot slots parlor would create 500 to 700 jobs, according to PPE Resorts, the project developer.
The commission is expected to decide in December where to site the state’s lone slots parlor authorized by the 2011 gaming expansion law.
