Shrewsbury’s Industrial Polymers and Chemicals won Mass Tech Collaborative’s Phase Three Intrapreneur Challenge, which focused on health and safety and included a $25,000 award, the agency announced on Tuesday.
The company won with its new VISTAT filter system, which provides a low-cost, drop-in solution for HVAC units to improve the safety and quality of circulated air within offices and schools, according to a press release.
“There were so many great ideas presented during the Massachusetts COVID-19 Health & Safety Challenge, and it was an honor just to compete, let alone win,” said Thomas Kennedy, chief technical officer of Industrial Polymers and Chemicals, in a statement. “We’re an old line manufacturing company, just gritting it out every day, so to win this means a lot to us.”
The challenge series was launched in June and is managed by North Adams business accelerator Lever.
Other finalists from Central Mass. included adhesive manufacturer FLEXcon in Spencer, Radio Robots in Sudbury, and medical technology manufacturer EndoSIM in Bolton.
