Incubator To Set Up Shop In Hopkinton

The nonprofit innovation center and incubator that was launched earlier this year to aid science and technology entrepreneurs has signed a multi-year lease for an office in the future Hopkinton Innovation Park.

TechSandBox, which was formed in May in Southborough, said it has signed on with Southfield Properties for an 8,700-square-foot facility on South Street in Hopkinton, near EMC, Barry Controls and Arteriocyte. The organization hopes to move in by mid-September, according to founder and CEO Barbara Finer.

TechSandBox has received support from local stakeholders in order to expand to a facility that has the additional assets needed. The organization has been working out of space used by Becker College. “We’ve been extremely fortunate to have had Becker College provide its Southborough facility, covering many of the expenses for our initial phase; moving TechSandBox to the Hopkinton facility will enable us to meet the demand for increased services,” Finer said.

Paul Matthews, executive director of the 495/MetroWest Partnership, added: “The 495/MetroWest region has become the state’s economic engine, with a tremendous employment base fueled by our highly skilled residents. As an incubator and entrepreneurial assistance program, TechSandBox meets a critical need by fostering our next generation of high-technology employers.”
