The National Science Foundation (NSF) has tapped Worcester as one of three cities to share a $2.65- million grant aimed at creating incubators for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning in the city.
The four-year grant will fund the arts-based STEM incubators here, as well as in San Diego and Chicago, according to statement from the Worcester EcoTarium, which will host the Worcester incubator. It includes money for curriculum, research, and civic engagement programs, according to the EcoTarium.
A cross-section of representatives from the community, including STEM professionals, teachers, business leaders and students, will participate in the Worcester incubator. Participants will develop projects, with an arts-based approach to STEM learning,
An advisory council will oversee the incubator.
