Import Prices Climb 0.5% In March

The U.S. Import Price Index rose 0.5 percent in March, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Responsible for the increase was a 10.5 percent increase in import petroleum prices, which more than

offset a 0.7 percent decline in the prices for nonpetroleum imports.

Export prices fell 0.6 percent in March, the bureau said.
