Framingham-based International Data Corp. (IDC) said worldwide computer server shipments fell 3.6 percent in the second quarter, marking the first decline in nearly three years.
Meanwhile, factory revenue in the server market fell 4.8 percent, marking the third consecutive quarter of year-over-year decline.
IDC said the market has softened following a “strong refresh cycle” in much of the market in 2010 and 2011. It said customers are working their way through technology transition and also cited economic uncertainty as a reason for the slowdown.
HP and IBM share the top spot in global market share, with each having just under 30 percent. Both companies have a presence in Littleton.
