In just three years, more Americans will be getting on the Internet through mobile devices than through computers or other wireline devices, according to Framingham’s International Data Corp.
IDC said that as customers adopt smartphones and media tablets, the number of people using PCs to get online will stagnate and then actually decline.
Worldwide, IDC projects that the total number of Internet users will jump from 2 billion in 2010 to 2.7 billion in 2015, when 40 percent of the world’s population will have online access.
