The international business analytics (BA) software market is expected to become a $33.9 billion industry this year, representing one of the fastest-growing segments of software development, according to Framingham-based International Data Corp.
IDC has launched a new semi-annual study of the BA market covering businesses in 49 countries across 12 specialty areas. Five of the 12 already have $1 billion in revenues and experience an average 13.8 percent annual growth rate.
U.S.-based businesses are market leaders, making up 44 percent of the market with expected growth of 8.6 percent this year.
Oracle is the top BA vendor in the world with 20 percent market share, followed by SAP, IBM, SAS Institute and Microsoft.
