Hudson Solar Firm Names CEO

Elkind Elkind

Solar installation company New England Clean Energy of Hudson has named Jim Elkind its CEO, the company announced today.

Elkind has been with New England Clean Energy since March 2012, overseeing its Solarize Massachusetts projects. He is the company's first CEO since its founding in 2006.

According to President Mark Durrenberger, Elkind's promotion stems from the company's growth as well as growing competition from out-of-state installers who are taking advantage of the state's solar incentives.

"Jim's business expertise will help us become an even stronger company strategically and financially, and ensure that we are here long after the incentives go away," Durrenberger said.

Prior to joining New England Clean Energy, Elkind was vice president of Integra Technology Consulting, head of his own management consultancy, director of operations at Tilion Inc., and senior manager at KPMG Consulting. According to New England Clean Energy, Elkind has advised startups and large companies that include General Electric and T-Mobile.

He was community coordinator of Harvard's 2011 Solarize program, which brought 400 kilowatts of solar power to the town. Elkind also sits on Harvard's Energy Advisory Committee. He's also a LEED Green associate, and a member of the Association of Energy Engineers.

"This is the type of company I want to lead," Elkind said of N.E. Clean Energy. "I believe in the product and I have the utmost respect for my colleagues here. I look forward to helping the company thrive during the current solar boom while building a sustainable business for the long term, one that does well by doing good."

Elkind holds a bachelor's degree in environmental science from Harvard University, and an MBA from the Sloan School at MIT.
