The Health Policy Commission is the latest state agency to begin livestreaming its meetings, joining a small but growing group of panels that make themselves more accessible by regularly broadcasting their business online.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission and Board of Elementary and Secondary Education livestream meetings, and MBTA officials said earlier this month they are working on streaming Control Board meetings.
The Health Policy Commission, which monitors the state's health care system and spending trends, began streaming its meetings on Jan. 18. It plans to broadcast all board, committee and advisory council meetings and hearings, with recordings available on its YouTube page.
"Given the demand for additional access to the HPC’s meetings and the HPC’s commitment to transparency, the addition of livestreaming will enable the HPC to reach a greater amount of stakeholders and members of the public throughout the country," commission spokesman Matt Kitsos said in a statement to the News Service.
