The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has approved Worcester contractor A.F. Amorello & Sons, Inc. for Hopkinton’s $15-million Main Street Corridor Project, the town announced on Wednesday.
MassDOT will schedule a pre-construction meeting during which it will discuss the project’s schedule and utility coordination, and will also review shop drawing submittals.
A.F. Amorello is working with the town to find possible town-owned properties to be used as construction lay down areas, and is in the process of requesting information from MassDOT to develop a health and safety plan, according to Hopkinton.
A Main Street Corridor project website is slated to be launched in the near future.
In May, Hopkinton received a $3-million MassWorks Infrastructure Program Grant for the project, which will include installing bicycle lanes, sidewalk construction, new traffic signals and overhead utility relocations, is intended to improve safety for drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as reduce downtown congestion.
