Hopkinton’s Isto Biologics completed a merger with a California biologics company known for innovation in October.
The merger between Isto Biologics and Advanced Biologics, which is known commercially as Biologica Technologies, expands Isto’s bone-graft technology base, according to an Oct. 18 press release from Isto. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“We are delighted to welcome the entire Advanced Biologics team to Isto Biologics,” Isto CEO Donald Brown said in the press release. “This merger brings together the best of both companies’ expertise and a shared commitment to help patients heal faster.”
The two firms have partnered on different ventures since 2020, including a bone matrix system promoting bone healing and a tissue graft method.
“Investing in Advanced Biologics and embarking on this strategic combination amplifies both Isto's and Advanced Biologics’ comprehensive biologics portfolios, paving a path forward for continued growth and patient healing,” Isto board Chairman Harry Holiday said in the press release.
In 2022, Isto acquired a different California firm to build its surgical and clinical portfolios.
