A developer has purchased another property in Hopedale to kickstart a commercial development at a key intersection.
Virginio Sardinha, under V. Sardinha Realty Trust, purchased a single-family home at 138 Hopedale St. Tuesday, land records show. The property is adjacent to two combined vacant lots on Mendon Street previously single-family homes until they were bought and demolished by Sardinha last year.
Together with the Hopedale Street acquisition of $300,000, Sardinha has spent $855,000 on three properties.
A realty group, SVN Parsons Commercial, is marketing the site as a 10,000-square-foot retail space with multiple tenants, though none have been publicly announced.
Town Administrator Steve Sette said the third property acquisition may now allow for entry and exit from the development on Hopedale Street to alleviate traffic concerns on the already busy Route 16, a major route into the Blackstone Valley from nearby Milford.
