Home Sales Contracts On Decline

Fewer Massachusetts homes went under agreement in June compared with the same time last year, the Massachusetts Association of Realtors reports.

MAR said the number of single-family homes put under agreement was down 16 percent year-over-year to 4,354, and the number of condominiums fell 21 percent to 1,689.

It was the second month in a row that the number of pending sales has fallen, a sign that home buying dropped off after the expiration of the federal tax credit for home purchases at the end of April.

MAR also said fewer homes were put under agreement in June than in May, a drop of 6.6 percent for single-family homes and 10.8 percent for condominiums.
