Bay State home sales in May remained weak, according to two real estate tracking firms.
Sales of single-family homes were down 16.9 percent in May compared to the year before, according to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.
But sales were up 18 percent from April.
Meanwhile, the Boston-based Warren Group found that the median price for a single-family home rose to $304,000, a 3-percent increase compared to last year. MAR found the median selling price was unchanged from last year.
The Warren Group said year-to-date sales are 19 percent below last year.
The condominium market continues to lag as well, the Warren Group noted, with sales down 38 percent year-over-year.
MAR only counts transactions executed by real estate agents.
