Home Builders Call For Housing Market Stimulus

Representatives of the state’s housing industry are asking Congress to offer new incentives for home buyers to stimulate the economy.

Finley Perry, former president of the Home Builders Association of Massachusetts and former president of F.H. Perry Builder Inc. in Hopkinton; Gary Ruping, president the Home Builders Association and president of Ruping Cos. in Bedford and Jeff Rhuda, business development manager of Symes Associates in Beverly, are part of a new coalition called Fix Housing First supported by builders and related companies.

They are calling for incentives including a 10 percent tax credit for qualified buyers and a below-market 30-year fixed-rate mortgage to encourage home sales.
