Holy Crossing

The College of The Holy Cross in Worcester has secured $750,000 in federal funding to make safety improvements along McKeon Road, the school said today.

The funds will be used to install sidewalks and traffic lights and to determine aesthetic fixtures along the road between I-290 and the college at one end and Quinsigamond Village and the Blackstone River Valley Heritage Park at the other.

The school said the improvements will facilitate economic development in the area, which has been targeted by the city for revitalization and investment.

Safety on the road has become a concern, with an increase in traffic expected associated with the Heritage Park project and fan parking along McKeon Road during Worcester Tornadoes games on the school's campus.
