A history professor at the College of the Holy Cross will become the president of Regis College in Toronto, the Worcester college announced on Wednesday.
Rev. Thomas Worcester will become the 11th president of Regis, which is the theological college at the University of Toronto. Worcester will begin his five-year term with the school on Aug. 1.
Worcester joined Holy Cross in 1994 and achieved tenure in 2000, being promoted to full professor in 2010. He specializes in the Reformation, religion and society in 17th-century France, the history of the Jesuits, and the history of the papacy.
A native of Burlington, Vt., Worcester was ordained as a priest in 1991.
