Men’s hockey at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester will begin next month, following the cancelation of fall sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school’s head men’s hockey coach announced Thursday.
The school’s Crusaders are scheduled to play a 24-game slate, including 22 Atlantic Hockey contests, according to the announcement.
The Atlantic Hockey season will officially begin Nov. 13; Holy Cross will begin play on Nov. 20.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the league has separated its members into eastern and western pods. Holy Cross will play in the eastern pod. All teams will play five games against each member of their pod, as well as two-game sets against Air Force and Long Island University, for a total of 24 games. Teams have the option to schedule a total of 28 games, allowing for the potential addition of up to four non-league matchups, according to Holy Cross.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, Holy Cross canceled all fall sports for its 2020-2021 school year. Men's hockey is one of its winter sports.
Fans will not be allowed to attend games for the beginning of the season, with the potential for fans to attend later games.
