Figge Hall, the newest residence hall at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, has earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the school announced.
The council is a national organization that certifies buildings that are green and sustainable, and protect the environment. Completed last year, the $19.2-million residence hall is a four-story, 60,000-square-foot building that houses 156 seniors in 39 apartments.
Figge is the second building on the Holy Cross campus to become LEED-certified. In 2010, the Integrated Science Complex also received the designation.
