Marlborough health technology company Hologic announced on Wednesday a partnership with the Oprah Winfrey Network to address racial disparities in health care.

Collaboration between OWN Your Health and Hologic’s Project Health Equality aims to bring awareness to healthcare disparities affecting Black women. It will provide access to education and preventative tools using Hologic’s research resources.

Hologic’s Project Health Equality launched in May to address structural and cultural barriers faced by Black and Hispanic women preventing them from receiving the same quality health care as white women.

Black communities have been statistically more impacted by COVID-19. Black women receive lower preventative screening rates, are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer, and twice as likely to die from cervical cancer as white women in the U.S., according to Hologic’s announcement.
