Hologic, a medical device company based in Marlborough, announced on Monday it is teaming up with Gallup, Inc., the Washington, D.C.-based analytics and advisory company, to develop the Hologic Women’s Health Index.
"In our ongoing work to support women’s health around the world, we've struggled to find comprehensive data that measures progress on key issues like access and quality of care on a global scale," said Steve MacMillan, Hologic’s chairman, president and CEO.
According to Hologic, the survey used will track important markers of women’s health and safety by country over time, the first of its kind to do so. The two began collaborating on the survey in 2019.
Questions will provide insight into reproductive health, domestic violence, preventive care, access to care and early disease detection. Hologic conducted the survey as part of Gallup’s World Poll, according to a press release.
"It is well established that women’s health serves as a marker for social progress, as well as economic stability,” said Susan Harvey, vice president of global medical affairs, breast and skeletal health at Hologic, in a statement. “When women are healthy, their families are more stable as are the communities around them and the socioeconomic environment overall.”
The index will be published later this year.
