Marlborough-based Hologic reported a strong start to the year, with 12.8 percent growth in U.S. sales of its testing and diagnostic equipment.
Overall revenue, however, was up a still-healthy but less impressive 6.5 percent as it was pulled down by an 11.5 percent decline in international sales. However, with an already strong operating margin, the U.S. sales contributed to a 190.5 percent growth in net income compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2015.
As a result of the strong quarter, Hologic increased its anticipated 2016 performance.
