The Corner Lunch Diner on the corner of Lamartine and Lafayette Streets in Worcester will have a new owner, after it was sold for $250,000 to Joshua Plahm, the former owner of Boston-based Joshua’s Deli, according to the Worcester Registry of Deeds and a post on the deli’s Facebook page.
The Corner Lunch Diner will be renamed Marvin’s Corner Lunch Diner in the coming months, said the Facebook post.
Joshua’s Deli, which specialized in chicken kebabs, closed its Boston location in May after the building’s landlord sold the property, according to its Facebook page.
Located at 131 Lamartine St., the property was sold by Charles Boukalis, who has owned the property since 2005, per the registry. He sold it for just $15,000 more than what he bought it for. It was assessed by the City of Worcester at $132,800 in 2021.
The 1,681-square-foot diner was built in 1955 and moved to Worcester in 1968, according to the Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System.
The sale to Plahm closed Aug. 30, according to the registry.
In the deli’s post, it was stated the 50’s-themed diner, which includes a bar and several booths, would need some renovations. The menu will remain largely the same, as the deli’s post said it has plans to clean up the menu and eventually add its specialty chicken kebabs.
Neither Boukalis nor Plahm were available for comment on Friday.
It certainly could use a makeover for sure!
