The Natick Mall will soon see another addition to its growing list of entertainment-focused venues, as Puttshack, a self-described upscale and tech-infused minigolf venue, will open its doors on Feb. 10.
The venue encompasses 22,000 square feet over two floors and will feature three 9-hole courses. Each course is infused with what the company calls its Trackaball technology, allowing for scores to be kept without the scorecard and tiny pencil often seen at more traditional minigolf establishments. The courses feature holes mimicking other games such as beer pong, foosball and Connect Four. The company first announced its plan to open a location in Natick at the end of 2022.
"Natick's vibrant mix of families and professionals makes it an ideal location for Puttshack,” David Diamond, president of Puttshack, said in a release issued by the company on Wednesday. “We're thrilled to bring our unique combination of high-tech mini golf and upscale entertainment to suburban Boston."
With the decline of big box retailers, the Natick Mall has seen several entertainment-focused venues open or plan locations there since 2021. Level99, an indoor game complex, opened at the mall in June 2021, and a 21-court pickleball facility plans to open at the mall sometime in the summer or fall.
In addition to minigolf, the Puttshack venue features full-service bars on each floor and a food menu. Puttshack’s Natick location will feature a family-friendly environment during the day, with the venue transitioning to an adult-focused environment after 8 p.m. The venue will feature handicap-accessible courses and has earned Sensory Inclusive certification from KultureCity, an Alabama-based nonprofit which advocates for individuals with sensory processing needs.
The London-based company already has 15 operational locations across the United States and the United Kingdom, including a venue in Boston’s Seaport District opened in October 2022, according to the company’s website. An additional 11 Puttshack locations are working toward opening.
