High school to teacher in under four years

Becker College in Worcester has a new accelerated teacher education program the school says can have students ready for elementary school classrooms in three-and-a-half years.

The program is called Start Teaching! It offers a degree in liberal arts with a concentration in elementary education.

Raj Pathi, Becker's vice president of academic affairs, said the school "specifically designed our new…program to help students for state teacher licensure, providing them a competitive edge in their entry into the teaching field."

The program is open to recent high school graduates as well as adult students.

Students in the program get "real world teaching experience" during the day, and go to class at night.
