Gardner-based Heywood Healthcare has signed a provider agreement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to provide healthcare services to veterans who are under the care of the VA, Heywood announced last week.
The agreement allows veterans to receive specified healthcare services at Heywood facilities and allows direct communication between the VA and Heywood providers, with the need for a third-party referral service, according to a statement.
The provider agreement was made possible under the Veteran’s Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014, and is part of a strategy to increase access to healthcare services for veterans while controlling costs, Heywood said.
