Driven by what it termed “record sales” of it its Ventricular Assist Systems, Framingham-based HeartWare International on Thursday announced its run of solid revenue performance had extended to the third quarter.
The company reported a 25 percent jump in revenue for the third quarter, from $54.8 million in the third quarter of 2013 to $68.6 million.
During the third quarter, the medical device maker said it sold 675 of its systems globally, a jump of 23 percent. Of those sales, 361 units were sold domestically accounting for $39.1 million dollars in revenue, a jump of 39 percent. International sales accounted for an 11 percent increase in sales from $26.6 million to $29.5 million, HeartWare said.
But while total operating expenses grew slightly from $45.8 million in 2013 to $46.4 million for the current reporting quarter, the company did see a smaller loss.
HeartWare saw a net loss for the third quarter of $7.4 million, or 43 cents per share, compared with $11.4 million, or 69 cents per share, for 2013, it reported.
