Heart to Hub evening train may stop more

A proposal put forth by a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority committee would add stops on the evening express train from Boston’s South Station to Worcester.

Under the MBTA’s proposal, the evening Heart to Hub train would stop in Framingham and Ashland starting May 22, just a day before the express train’s one-year anniversary. As it is now, the Heart to Hub train leaves South Station at 7:35 p.m. and stops at Back Bay and Yawkey before traveling express to Union Station in Worcester. The morning Heart to Hub train express schedule with no additional stopping would not change.

According to a comparison posted on the MBTA’s website, the two additional stops on the evening line would increase travel time by five minutes.

The changes were proposed by the MBTA’s Worcester Line Schedule Working Group, a coalition of elected officials, riders, MBTA staff and people from MBTA operator Keolis Commuter Services and discussed at a public meeting Wednesday night. Another public meeting to discuss adding more stops in west Natick is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday.
