HealthAlliance Gives Building To Partner

HealthAlliance Hospital is giving a building on its Burbank campus in Fitchburg to the Community Health Connections Family Health Center .

Dawn Casavant, CHC's vice president of development and community relations, said the organization will buy the building, where it has had offices for six years, for $1.

Casavant said CHC has expanded its operations greatly since 2002, going from 7,000 to 30,000 patients and adding dental and mental health services and a pharmacy to its original medical offices. She said the group wants to continue to expand and may build an addition on the building.

HealthAlliance will lease space it currently occupies in the building from CHC. Casavant said CHC works closely with HealthAlliance and often refers patients to the hospital.

The official transfer of the building will take place Friday.

CHC was created as the result of a collaboration between a community board, UMass Memorial Health Care, UMass Medical School, Fitchburg Family Practice and federal, state and local officials. UMass Memorial Health Care also owns HealthAlliance.
